About my paths
I was born in Italy and raised in a bilingual family in a small city in Greece. I studied various dance disciplines for over 15 years. My passion for dance has remained active ever since and my interest in human nature prompted me to study psychology (BSc Psych, Panteion University of Athens, Greece).
During my studies in psychology, I became attracted to the psychological narratives of the body and movement. This discipline led me to London, where I pursued studies as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist (MA Dance & Movement Psychotherapy, Goldsmiths College, University of London).
I have studied Authentic Movement at the Institute of Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy. Later, I had the opportunity of being mentored by and practice with Ellen Emmet, former student of Janet Adler. With Ellen I explored the relationship between Authentic Movement and non duality.
I trained as a teacher in Mindfulness Stress Reduction at the Centre of Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) at the University of Wales, Bangor and cultivate the daily practice of mindful living.
I completed a 200hrs yoga teacher training with an emphasis in Hatha and Tantra Yoga in Rishikesh, India with the Satya Loka school of Yoga & Tantra. There, I lived for 5 weeks in an ashram on the foothills of the Himalayas and was immersed in intensive traditional spiritual practice.
Continuous exploration on the body-mind connection has inspired my path in holistic healing & Bodywork. I have studied Ayurveda in Kerala, India, at the School of Ayurveda and Panchakarma and Traditional Thai Yoga massage with the Sunshine massage school at the Lahu Hill Tribe village in Thailand. I have also received attunement for Reiki Level 1.
I am fascinated about how all these practices interconnect, complementing and supporting a unique and profound approach.
Work experience: Since 2008 I have been working as a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and Community Dance Artist in London, in a variety of settings. These include: Maudsley Hospital, Mile End Hospital, Slam special NHS care homes for people living with dementia, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Nursing Homes, The Jewish Care, Sundial Day Care Centre, Lewisham College for students with learning difficulties, Orchard Primary School, Drumbeat School & ASD, Forster Park Primary School and Tower Hamlet’s Children Centres. I have worked in partnership with arts organisations exploring the arts in health and have facilitated trainings for NHS professionals and various workshops in London, Greece, Spain and Hungary.
I have been teaching yoga to groups and individuals and I have offered various Mindfulness Based stress reduction courses.
I have a private practice as a Movement Psychotherapist. I also offer Bodywork sessions.
I am a member of the Association for Dance and Movement Psychotherapy UK (ADMP) and of the British Psychological Society. I am registered with Yoga Alliance.
I am actively committed to ongoing personal and professional development. I keep up to date with current research, body related practices and therapeutic approaches and receive regular supervision.
Beyond anything else, I consider myself a human being and relate to my clients as such.
I feel grateful and honoured to be witnessing the individual and collective journeys of people coming from diverse paths of life.
